Comparison between Fracture Head Radius Fixation versus Excision

Bishoy Khairy Azmy Zaki;

Abstract

ractures of radial head constitutes almost 2-4% of all the fractures (1). It is the most common type of elbow fractures. It usually occurs following a trauma or fall on the outstretched hand where the force of impact is transmitted to radial head through forearm which leading to that the radial head is forced into the humeral capitellum (36).
Seven studies (from 1980 to 2018) had been identified for analysis. 232 patients were enrolled in these studies. The age of all the included patients in 7 trials ranging from 30 to 54 years. Most of the trials recruited patients with radial head fractures with Mason classification II,III.
The aim of this review is to compare between radial head excision and open reduction and internal fixation of the radial head as regards the outcome of elbow function and to assess the complications that occur in both techniques
