COMPLICATIONS OF URETEROSCOPY

Treatment of ureteral stones is the most frequent indication for therapeutic ureteroscopy.ln our study at Urology department, Kaser EI-Eini Hospitals- Cairo University, fifty cases of rigid URS (40 males and 10 females) with middle and

lower ureteric stones were subjected to ureteroscopic stone retrieval with or
without lithotripsy. The age of these oatients ranged from 19 to 67 years old with mean age of 39.78 year.
The overall complications in our study occurred in 10 cases (20 %), the major complications occurred in 3 cases ( 6 %).
The calculi were successfully retrived in 46 cases (92 %) at the first attempt. A second attempt of 3 cases (6 %) was successful. So, lhe overall success rate was ( 98 % ). The technique was failed in 1 case(2 % ).
