Abstract


he Ketogenic Diet (KD) is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate, and adequate-protein diet well-established as treatment option for drug resistant childhood epilepsies. Recent studies have found a significantly positive outcome with the use of the KD for treatment of refractory epilepsy in children and adults
The objectives of this study were to design a database system to identify epidemiological factor of different group of patients on KD and highlight the factors leading to success in management or leading to selection of therapy. Revision of all patient files in ketogenic clinic in Ain Shams University children’s hospital according to (history, examination, investigations, diagnosis and follow up sheet) from 2013 till 2020
It was a descriptive cross-sectional study, done in keto clinic (combination of neurology and nutrition clinics) Ain Shams University Children’s Hospital. The period of the study was from October 2017 till October 2019 involved all patients in ketoclinic
All the included patients were subjected to:
1. Full history taking,
2. Examination including Anthropometric measurements (body weight, length or height, BMI and z-scores), neurological examination,
