Characterization of bioactive compounds secreted by some fungal antagonists against Curvularia spicifera
Shimaa Ahmed Gouda;
Abstract
In this study, biocontrol active volatile and nonvolatile compounds which produced from some fungal rhizosphere isolates previously isolated from rice soil of El- Dakahlia and El- Qaliubiya governorates in Egypt during summer 2014 against Curvularia spicifera (the causal agent of rice brown spot) were extracted and identified by Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry. The extracted nonvolatile compounds separated and purified by column chromatography then, tested for their antimicriobal activity as separate pure compounds and when were mixed with each other against Curvularia spicifera.
Briefly, the results can be summarized in the following points:
1- Identification of Curvularia spicifera (brown spot pathogen)
- Brown spot pathogen was identified as Drechslera spicifera According to morphological identification on PDA media.
- According to molecular identification by using ITS1 – 5.8S – ITS2 ribosomal DNA region sequence was identified as Curvularia spicifera (new name of Drechslera).
