This thesis constructs a development method of constructing an analytical guideline model of redeveloping sociable public spaces in new urban communities for urban designers, architects and landscape architects to use for operating comprehensive evaluation of sociable public spaces. The proposed model is developed based on constructing a conceptual tool to understand placemaking of sociable public places as a “real assemblage”. The key findings lies in presenting a comprehensive evaluation approach that integrate between investigating the sociable qualities of public places and the placemaking process that gave rise to them in order to fill the urban gap of omitting the integration of urban design process with the project final outcome throughout most review processes. The research brings new insights for urban designers, urban researchers, planners and policymakers to establish more comprehensive analytical models for evaluating public places and urban design qualities that are in continuous change state over time.
