Abstract
The present study included 103 patients were diagnosed by localized prostate cancer and were divided into two groups:
Group I consisted of 51 patients treated using 3D CRT, all of them are under hormonal treatment. They completed a questionnaire at (Month 0) baseline, then on the follow-up visit, after 3, 6 months (Month 3, 6).
Group II consisted of 52 patients treated by IMRT and hormonal treatment, the same dose range and field as 3D CRT. They participated and completed the questionnaire at the same phases (Month 0, 3, 6) with the same methods as the 1st group.
The age of the participants in this study ranged from 60-77 years old for group1 and from 63-83 years for group 2.
PSA for group 1 ranged from 8.5-27 ng/ml , and 5.16-31 ng/ml in group 2 and G.S combined for the 2 groups ranged from 6-8 as 9.8% of group 1 and 3.9% of group 2 got score 6, 76.4% of group 1 and 84.6% of group 2 got 7, and 9.8% of group 1 and 5.8% of group 2 got the score 8.
The length of time between diagnosis and initiation of treatment ranged from 1-10 weeks.
The patients that were treated using radiotherapy dose less than 74Gy were 35.3% of group 1 and 44.2% in group 2 ,and radiotherapy dose range from 74-76Gy was used in 64.7% of patients in group 1 and 55.8% of group 2. 100% of patients in both groups were on hormonal treatment.
