RISK STRATIFICATION AFTER ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN INVASIVE AND NON INVASIVE TECHNIQUE

Abstract


This study included 50 patients admitted to Coronary Care Unit in Menuofiya University Hospital with their first attack of uncomplicated acute myocardial infarction. All patients were subjected to predischarge evalltation by: thorough history taking, clinical examination, serial ECG, srum enzyme measurement, echocardiographic assessment, submaximal exercise test and cardiac catheterization.


Follow up was done for 6-9 months and according to the development of complications or its absence they were divided into: medically treated. and interventional groups. The medically treated group include two subgroups. uncomplicated subgroup and a •subgroup who has lesions not amenable to intervention. Intervention group included those refered to PTCA or CABG. Any developed complication as, heart failure, reinfarction, arrythmias ext.were recrded and
analyzed.



Age ranged from 26 - 66 years with mean age 52 ± 8.96 years. , 19 from them < 50 years and 31 2: 50 years. 44 (88%) of them were males and 6 ( 12%) were females. As regards to the prevalence of risk
factors, hype1tension was detected in 27 patients (54%), diabetes
