Evaluation of the effect of different finishing protocols on translucency and surface roughness of two different ceramic materials

Abstract

The main purpose of the present study was to evaluate the translucency and surface roughness of three different ceramic materials (Celtra DUO and Ultra-translucent Zirconia) with different finishing’s of polishing protocols (polishing, glazing, polishing and glazing) before and after aging. Forty two zirconia based samples were constructed with standardized dimensions for this study. Specimens were divided into 2 groups according to type of ceramic: Group C: Celtra Duo (n=21) Group B: Bruxzir Anterior Shaded 350 (n=21) Each group was subdivided later into 3 subgroups according to surface treatment: Subgroup P: polishing (n=7) Subgroup G: glazing (n=7) Subgroup PG: polishing and glazing (n=7)
