Abstract

Summary : The city of Baghdad is one of the cities that is distinguished by its civilizational and urban identity, and occupies a distinctive position and a high value locally and internationally due to the cultural heritage it contains. The study focused on the role of urban management in preserving the most prominent features in the city centers and its historical legacy, and following scientific and practical methods that were taken from experiences A number of countries in the preservation and development of these important sites and their development according to international and local bases and standards, working on their sustainability and forming a frame of reference based on indicators based in the historical areas of Baghdad or most of the historical cities because of the characteristics and features it contains that work to maintain and develop these areas and limit the existing problems In it, and preserving its most prominent features because of their impact on souls and the civilization they bear.
