Abstract


itamin D insufficiency is present in 58% to 91% of women with infertility; it is more common in women with elevated BMI, PCOS, and those of Asian or black ethnicity.
Several studies have demonstrated that VD deficiency is more common in women with PCOS and its deficiency is a major contributing factor to IR, obesity, and metabolic syndrome, all of which are commonly observed in PCOS and associated with ovulatory dysfunction.
This double blinded randomized controlled prospective clinical study was conducted at infertility outpatient clinic of Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital.
This study assessed the effect of VD supplementation on ovulation rate in overweight subfertile women with PCOS who underwent ovulation induction.
Statistical analysis of our results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between both groups at the time of randomization regarding baseline characteristics and demographic data, biochemical, hormonal levels and antral follicular count.
