Abstract
ccording to Curtiss, (2014) an addictive personality refers to a particular set of personality traits that make an individual predispose to develop behavior disturbances. This hypothesis states that there are common elements among people with varying addictive behaviors that relates to personality traits. People who have addictive behaviors characterized by: a physical or psychological dependency that negatively affects their quality of life.
International nurses society on addiction, (2014) noted that, lack of adequate training, fixed, inappropriate attitudes or beliefs about patients who have addictive behaviors and their treatment, time constraints, fear of losing patients, lack of insurance coverage act as barriers in availing the opportunity of diagnosing and treating patients with addictive behaviors, attitudes, beliefs and confidence levels were considered as one of the most important of these barriers.
A quasi-experimental design was used on 60 nurses who work with clients who have addictive behavior problems at Abbassia Mental Health Hospital..
