Islam Mohammed Mohammed Zaki;
Abstract
The MC is a vital landmark that must be considered before any surgery within the posterior mandible. The MC travels inside the mandible, extending from the mandibular foramen to the mental foramen (MF). It runs obliquely downward and forward within the ramus, and horizontally forward after that within the body till reaching the MF (1)Fig.1.
The position of the mandibular foramen varies in relation to the race and ethnicity (2). It's location is on a bony protuberance at the center of the ramus’ medial surface called the lingula (3),(4).
