Clinical Value of CASR Gene Polymorphism on Cinacalcet Response in Hemodialysis Patients with Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

Neveen Nabil Abdelshaheed;

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the frequency of variants of study genes related to PTH regulation (CASR rs 1042636 and CASR rs 1802757) and to assess the effect of these single nucleotide polymorphism on cinacalcet response among prevalent hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism. This study was included 50 prevalent hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism on regular hemodialysis from Ain shams university hospitals hemodialysis units, receiving 3 sessions / week each session 4 hours with high flux dialyser surface area and calcium dialysate 1.75 mmol/l using central dialysis fluid delivery system(CDDS) in our dialysis units which included Clinical stable hemodialysis patients > 18 years old on regular hemodialysis for ≥ 6 months.and Hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT)(intact PTH (iPTH) ≥300 pg/ml) had been treated by cinacalcet for 6 months. And Excluded Patients with active infections, chronic inflammatory disease, serious concomitant hepatic disease, and active cancers or Patients with a history of Parathyroidectomy and parathyroid adenoma.
