Abstract
In this paper, the electric power system is analyzed in two modes: decentralized and centralized techniques to minimize the operating cost. Decentralized load flow is the mostly applied technique. Recently, centralized technique is utilized in order to increase the security of the system as the generating units on the boundaries will be the only units which are considered to mitigate the changes. Many techniques are formed in order to solve the optimal power flow problems, as it is the most effective tool to acquire minimum cost or minimum losses under certain constraints. For the connected electric power system networks, the system can be solved by decentralized or centralized techniques. These modes are solved by applying a new artificial intelligence technique which is called Tuned Whale Optimization Algorithm (TWOA). These techniques are implemented on IEEE 48-bus power system. IEEE 48-bus system consists of two regions connected to each other by transmission lines. Variations in the controlling variables of TWOA are also introduced.
