Abstract

Nuclear Reactors are very important as its various applications are necessary for the development of any country. These nuclear reactors need to be modeled to test the new controllers. Some of these models made severe approximations while others are too exact but too complex to design a controller. Due to these approximations, the designed conventional controller can't provide a good performance at all transient scenarios. This paper presents a multi-Point reactor core modeling of Egyptian second testing research reactor (ETRR-2) model. It also proposes Receding horizon predictive controller (RHPC) a type of Model predictive controller (MPC). The comparative experimental results show the superiority of Receding Horizon Predictive Controller over conventional controllers.
