Biography
• Sahar Yassien Mohammad, Ph.D., is a professor of Critical Care Nursing (2014 to present), Vice Dean of Education and Students’ Affairs at Ain Shams University, College of Nursing (2020 to 2022), where she teaches in undergraduate, Master, and Ph.D. programs, Condensed Program, bridging program, technical diplomas. With more than 32 years of experience in academic education and research in various academic settings.
• She held the position of Head of the General Nursing Department at private University (October 6 University, Cairo, Egypt) (2003-2006), where she established the faculty's first nursing skill lab and effected the faculty policy. Prof. Sahar worked as Head of the General Nursing Department, Faculty of Health Sciences, Saudi Arabia (2004-2012) and worked as a visiting professor in Faculty of Nursing, Dammam University, Saudi Arabia (2012-2013). She established the Department of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University (2016-2019), where she developed the undergraduate and post-graduate curriculum and held the position of Head of the Critical Care and Emergency Nursing Department (2019-2020), and became a Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs (2020-2022). Also, she established the first Nursing virtual Patient lab in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University (2021).
• Prof. Sahar has many international publications in nursing research. She supervised more than fifty Master theses and Doctoral dissertations; her research interests include the management of critically ill patients. She established the Journal of Evidence-Based Nursing Research and held the position of Editor-in-Chief (2018- to present). She is an editorial board member and peer reviewer in many academic local (Asuit University, Tanta University, MIU, Kafr El-Sheikh) and international nursing journals (Indonesian Journal of Global Health since January 2022).
• Prof. Sahar has been a certified quality auditor at National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher education institutions since 2014 to present. External Examiner in the Supreme Council of Universities Committee to promote Associate professors and professors (Nursing Committee). She is a member of the Scientific Committee to promote Associate professors and professors at Al Taif University, Saudi Arabia. Research Projects Reviewer at Um AlQura University, Mekka AlMUkarma, Saudi Arabia. Lately, she held the position of head of the committee of continuous professional development for nursing, affiliated to the Egyptian Health Council, that worked under the umbrella of prime minster and presidential authority.
• Dr. Sahar is an establishing member of the Egyptian Nursing Scientific Association (1992). She also attended many national and international conferences worldwide (Belgium, Austria, Denmark, England, Sweden, Japan, Russia, Morocco, and Emirates).
• Dr. Sahar participated in the establishment, organization, and coordination of projects at the faculty of nursing, Ain Shams University, such as African nurses training program, in cooperation with the organization of international cooperation, 2001; Ain Shams University projects for improving quality of life for renal failure patients, 2000, and for development of nursing skills in general surgery department in El-Demrdash University Hospital (2004). She served as an infection control counselor with the health ministry for technical support to institutionalize an infection control program in Egyptian hospitals. She also worked as an external quality auditor, member of the quality assurance committee, Cleopatra Hospital; clinical coordinator, and lecturer in the graduation project of nursing assistants (2003) in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organization (Sawiris project for social development). Dr. Sahar participated in the higher education enhancement project (HEEPF) to improve academic nursing education quality, Supreme Council of Universities. She also participated in the health care quality accreditation and patient safety joint European project, 2005, between October 6 University and Växjö University (2005), and the establishment of an e-learning center on October 6 University, 2005.
