Biography
Dr Hanan Sabry is a Professor of Architecture and Environmental Control at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. She is a subject-matter expert with more than thirty years of experience in daylighting studies. She has participated as a daylighting consultant in several high-profile projects in Egypt, including the Grand Egyptian Museum Project, where she served as a member of the Technical Committee, and the New Campus of the American University in Cairo, contributing to daylighting studies.
Dr Sabry has also been an active member of research teams working on various projects, including research on integrated desert building technologies, as well as projects addressing daylighting and energy performance in intensive care units and patient rooms. In addition, she was part of a research team involved in the Monitoring Object and Visitor Environments (MOVE) project in museums.
She has contributed to more than 30 research papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international conferences. In 2020, Dr. Sabry received the Ain Shams University Appreciation Award for Architecture. Moreover, she has served as a member of the organizing committee for six international conferences—AR_UP 2006, AR_UP 2008, AR_UP 2019, MOVE 2021, ICSC 2023, and ICES 2025—acting as the Conference Coordinator for the latter.
