Biography
Emeritus Professor of Plant Pathology; Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Egypt. Seconded in February l988 as Counsellor of the American University in Cairo, till 2008. ; Former Minister of Commerce and Supply 1983-1986; Former Governor of Kafer El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt 1981-1983; Former Vice-President of Menoufia University 1980-1981; obtained MSc 1963 and PhD 1965, in Plant Pathology, from Louisiana State University, USA.
Awarded twice the decoration of Wissam Al-Goumhuriyaa, Al-Tabbaka Al-Ula, Order of the Republic, First Class from President Mubarak.
My research centers on the biology, etiology, and control of soilborne plant diseases, with a particular focus on white rot disease in onions and developing Trichoderma harzianum isolates for biological control. This work has been instrumental in uncovering the infection process and creating effective strategies to manage the disease, as reflected in my Google Scholar profile, which features numerous studies and articles spanning various aspects of plant pathology.
