Biography
Prof.Dr. Thanaa Elnoby Ahmed Seleem, Professor of Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, is one of the most prominent specialists in agricultural marketing and international trade in Egypt and the Arab world. Her academic and research experience spans more than three decades, during which she has made influential scientific contributions in the fields of agricultural economics, agricultural policies, and rural development. She has held several leadership positions, including Acting Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture – Ain Shams University (2023–2024), and Head of the Agricultural Economics Department from 2019 to 2024. She currently serves as Rapporteur and Chair of the Promotions Committee for Professors and Associate Professors at the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt. She is also a member of the Permanent Scientific Committees for Professors’ Promotion at the Supreme Council of Universities, in addition to her membership in the scientific promotion committees for researchers at the National Research Centre (Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research) and the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation). Prof. Thanaa has supervised more than 75 master's and PhD theses in agricultural economics and environmental economics and has evaluated more than 80 academic theses across Egyptian universities. She has an outstanding research record that includes internationally indexed studies in Scopus, along with more than 60 papers published in local scientific journals. She has participated in numerous national projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and has developed and supervised educational programs and curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has also taken part in dozens of conferences and scientific seminars inside and outside Egypt. Her research is distinguished by its focus on food security issues, resource-use efficiency, the development of agricultural exports, and the reduction of agricultural losses establishing her as a trusted scientific reference in agricultural economics and sustainable agricultural development.
